OUTDOOR CLUB CLEANS UP HISTORICAL SITE
The Central Wyoming College Outdoor Adventure Club, made up mostly of Outdoor Education and Leadership students, did a little community service work in October.
The students picked up trash at the Riverton Rendezvous site. Founded in 1989 for the express purpose of preserving a rare historical landmark, the 1838 Rendezvous Association continues working toward that goal.
CWC Western American Studies student and club member Jordan Stapley recommended the clean up in this area as she recognizes the cultural and historical significance of the rendezvous site southeast of Riverton.
Mountain men left no physical trace of their lives upon the western landscape and this site is dedicated to the men, women and children who moved so lightly upon the world that only the land and the river remain as a witness to those shining times.
